The P50S2 is a lower priced Plasma HDTV than the P50G25, but neither reaches the full image quality of the P50G25, nor has the same ammount of features. The P50S2 only has a 2,000,000:1 contrast ration compared to 5,000,000:1, is not THX certified and has no PC input, USB and Ethernet connections. It is still a great 1080p TV if you do not need internet connectivity. If you have a tight budget, it is a smart choice, if you can afford a little more go for the G25 or even the 3D ready GT25.

Comparison vs the Panasonic TC-P50GT25

The TC-P50GT25 is considered the enhanced version of the TC-P50G25, it has the same contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, has a 1080p resolution as well, but has a 3D infinite black plasma panel with a slightly different cell structure instead of the NeoPDP panel. The Viera Image Viewer of the GT25 supports AVCHD, MPEG2, JPEG, MP3 playback, while the G25 only supports JPED playback. The image quality is, despite the missing 3D capabilities of the G25, pretty much the same. All other spes are the same, same number of inputs and outputs, same speakers, even the design is exactly the same. The price difference in very small, the GT25 is slightly more expensive. If you don't need the enhanced media viewer or 3D, the G25 is the cheaper choice, especially since it would make sense to buy 3D glasses and a 3D blue-ray disc player on top if you decide to go for the GT25. On the other hand, the P50GT25 is future proof, upgrading the non-3D G25 to be 3D ready via firmware will not be possible.
